Argonauts quarterback Ricky Ray hands off to running back Curtis Steele during practice at York University on Sunday. Steele is one of numerous backs kept on by the Scullers as cut-down day sailed by. Veteran receiver Romy Bryant was let go, however. (DAVE THOMAS/QMI AGENCY)

Turns out, the tough decisions for Argos head coach Scott Milanovich and GM Jim Barker in making the final cuts weren’t at running back after all.

The Argos braintrust took care of that little brainteaser by keeping them all.

Now former Houston Texan Steve Slaton is likely to begin the year on the injured list with a hamstring issue that kept him out of practice again on Sunday and national Anthony Woodson will join the practice roster, but the rest of the backs are all staying for now. That list includes Curtis Steele, Jeremiah Johnson, Anthony Coombs, and fullbacks Alexandre Dupuis, Brendan Gillanders and Zander Robinson all earning spots on the 46-man roster.

Not a single running back was cut as the Argos parted ways with 14 players and placed another 10 on the practice roster to get down to the league-mandated 46-player roster.
