Patrick Neufeld admits it was tough to miss out on the opportunity to sip from the Grey Cup.

Dealt on Oct. 6 by the Saskatchewan Roughriders to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for defensive end Alex Hall, Neufeld was always excited about the fresh start.

But it’s not every day you miss out on winning a CFL championship with your hometown team.

“At first, it was tough. I had invested a lot and put a lot of time in with that team and forming a lot of relationships and bonds,” said Neufeld. “But this is professional sports and this is what you sign up for. When it happened, yeah it hurt at the start. I’m completely over it now and my focus is on 2014.

“Our offensive line here is really good and they’ve embraced me right away. Now that I get a chance to go out there and prove myself, I think I’m fitting in and trying to contribute as much as I can. Nothing is given to you here, I want to earn whatever I get.”
