Keon Raymond is all smiles after he signed his contract extension back in January but he isn't smiling now after the league elected to use the fans and media in the bargaining negotiations.

It was supposed to be a long day of negotiations.

That changed with a couple of mouse clicks.

Shortly after league owners rejected the CFLPA's latest CBA proposal Wednesday morning in Toronto, commissioner Mark Cohon, doing a complete 180-degree turn from the league's 'no-comment' stance through the first three months of talks, released open letters to players and fans.

It sent reverberations throughout the CFL world, shocking the CFLPA, who were blindsided by the league's sudden public-negotiating tactics, something it had been staunchly opposed to.

Until now.

With training camps slated to open in 11 days, it's an ominous sign.

The players have been readying for this since March, when talks broke down on Day 1.

But they weren't it expecting it to go like this.

No new talks are planned, and no one is sure what kind of twists and turns are in store, making a work stoppage seem almost likely, at this point.
