The Calgary Stampeders were expecting the worst news.
But that didn’t make it any less devastating.
It came as no surprise when the team confirmed three starters will miss the West Division final due to injuries suffered in Friday’s 26-7 loss to the B.C. Lions in Vancouver.
Marquay McDaniel, the team’s lone 1,000-yard receiver, is out with a high-ankle sprain.
Defensive tackles Micah Johnson (ACL tear) and Demonte’ Bolden (MCL sprain) will also miss the Nov. 17 home playoff date.
Junior Turner and Etienne Legare will likely fill in on the defensive line, while Earl Okine and/or Freddie Bishop III could be activated from the practice roster.
McDaniel, the Stamps most reliable receiver from Day 1 this season, will be impossible to replace.
If Joe West is able to return from his shoulder ailment, the Stamps may elect to move impressive rookie Jeff Fuller into the slot.
Or, Calgary Dinos product Anthony Parker could see an increased worklo
