Slowly but surely, the evidence is trickling in about the next wave of CFL quarterbacks.

League watchers were quite excited about the first few starts for Bo Levi Mitchell, Zach Collaros and Drew Willy this season, but it takes more than one game to get a good feel.

Last Friday night at Rogers Centre was a prime example.

Both Mitchell and Collaros ended up going head-to-head in the second half when starters Kevin Glenn and Ricky Ray both went down because of injuries. It was clear from how they performed that Mitchell is the man.

We saw what Collaros was like without a week of preparation. Ray got hurt in the first half, and Collaros couldn't get much going against a stout Stampeders defence. Don't forget he looked like a rock star last month against arguably the league's top defence in the B.C. Lions.

Mitchell, however, stepped right in for Glenn and Calgary didn't miss a beat. He looked nowhere near as lost as Collaros, who still has the ability to be a good passer in this league. Mitchell proved that he has a feel for Canadian football and is ready to be a starter somewhere.

And that place will be Calgary. The debate about which quarterback the Stampeders will protect in the expansion draft can stop.

It's Mitchell.

End of story.
