If Orrin Thompson wants to build off a 2012 CFL season that saw him become the Edmonton Eskimos top offensive lineman, he’s going to have to wait until next year.

“Orrin Thompson is out for the season with a knee injury,” head coach Kavis Reed said of the 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive tackle out of Duke, who won the starting position as Eskimos left tackle in his first year in the league.

But any momentum Thompson was building as a solid blind-side pass protector was side tracked when he went down with the knee injury on Day 1 of training camp Sunday.

“We had that news delivered to us. Yes, it’s a blow to us, but we really feel confident in the talent that is Thaddeus Coleman,” Reed said of the 6-foot-8, 308-pound replacement out of Mississippi Valley State, who is the son of former NFL linebacker Michael Coleman. “I’m very high on Thaddeus, he’s one of the top guys on our list.”
