Thinking the reward for pass interference might be a little too beneficial for the offence, the CFL’s rules committee will vote Friday to possibly change it.
Currently a pass interference penalty gives the ball to the offence at the spot of the foul, which on some occasions is on the one-yard line or is 40 yards down the field. The league is looking at making a PI penalty a specific yardage and an automatic first down.
“The feeling from maybe the public is that there’s too many pass interference calls and they affect the game too much,” Bombers head coach Tim Burke said. “That’s what I’ve heard.”
