When the Canadian Football League's general managers and player personnel directors watch and interview prospective draft picks this weekend at the CFL Combine, they'll no doubt be looking to see if players have one eye on the National Football League.
And who could blame them if they do?
The money is gigantic south of the border, even if it's only a short stay, and that makes it the No. 1 destination for football players.
Unfortunately for CFL bird dogs, however, it's easier these days for their draft-eligible players to end up down south, but it's not always clear they're going to get a look.
That makes drafting a tough proposition, because you're not necessarily looking for the best player.
You're looking for the best player who is going to stay in Canada and play in the three-down loop.
"It's harder because there's greater opportunity and there's greater visibility being given to these guys," one CFL executive said on Tuesday.
