So here we are up in the press box. Sharing space with some of the greatest thinkers this nation has ever seen: Bender, Penton, Friesen ... well OK, Bender and Penton anyway.

Your Winnipeg Blue Bombers had the best record over the last eight games of the regular season at 6-2. Granted, four of those games were against Toronto and Hamilton. Nonetheless, Winnipeg is arguably the hottest team going into the playoffs.

No matter how you look at it this team was 2-8 at one point this year. Fighting back to a record of 8-10 is impressive. It's going to be a tough road to get to the Cup, but the team has put themselves in a position to make a run at it. Go get it boys.

DEAD KITTIES: Something to chew on: Hamilton has finished dead last in the league five of the last six seasons. That's a whole lotta first overall picks.

What is the deal with Casey Printers throwing a party every time he gets a first down? Casey left the field with 14:24 to go in the third quarter. As he limped off the field, you had to think that would be the last time he will be between the lines as a Tiger-Cat.

According to an anonymous source close to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, aliens abducted the real Casey Printers on May 14th of this year. Apparently Hamilton is the hub of alien activity in Canada, and for years players who have played well on other teams "disappear" soon after their arrival at the Hamilton airport. They are "replaced" by a being that looks very similar to the individual abducted. Word is the aliens are having a bit of trouble with this program, as all of the replicas have a propensity to losing.

The aliens, sometimes referred to as 'Younglings', are hoping to fix this glitch before the start of training camp in '09.

THE DON GONE: Really surprised and disappointed that Don Matthews stepped down as coach of the Argos. Without any doubt the team was improving steadily as each week went by under his leadership. Almost impossible for a coach to come in mid-season and make much of an impact.

As a head coach, you are stuck with players and assistant coaches the recently fired head coach selected. O and D schemes are already firmly entrenched. Nothing much a newly appointed head coach can do short term other than lead through inspiration. The CFL is a more exciting league when Don Matthews is a head coach, it's a shame to see him pack it in.
