CFL Week 14 Picks

KIRK PENTON, JIM BENDER and PAUL FRIESEN -- Winnipeg Sun

, Last Updated: 9:01 AM ET

TONIGHT

Ottawa at Calgary, 8 p.m. TSN

Bender: The battle of the bottom feeders with homefield giving Door Matt the miracle he needs, we think. Stamps by ... one.

Penton: The Stampeders should have beaten the Renegades in July, but they decided to pass instead of run. The reeling Stamps won't get nearly as close this time. Renegades by 10.

Friesen: Well well, a game in which you could actually pick the hapless Stamps to win and not get laughed out of town. So, here goes. Calgary by two.

TOMORROW

Toronto at Winnipeg, 2 p.m. CBC (local blackout in effect)

Bender: No Stokes means The Dogged Daley's defence will be more under the gun to corral Calamity Clemons' dangerous offensive crew, and Blink must have another big day to sink the Boatmen. Bombers by 2.

Penton: The Bombers will come back with a better defensive effort. That will be enough to squeak out their third in a row. Bombers by four.

Friesen: The rematch of a 14-6 Argos win in August. Look for the Winnipeg defence to corral Michael Bishop this time, and the offence to actually score a major or two. Bombers by five.

Edmonton at B.C., 9 p.m. CBC

Bender: Timid Tom's Eskies are hurting at receiver and they cannot afford any weakness against the roarin' Lions in their den. Leos by 7.

Penton: This titanic clash in the West will knock the Lions down a peg or two. Eskimos by seven.

Friesen: If this isn't a West Final preview, I'll eat my CFL rule book. Lions by three.

SUNDAY

Saskatchewan at Hamilton, 1 p.m. No TV

Bender: Roughies are 13-29 on the road since the Grinnin' Barrett took over and have lost four straight in the Ivor Wynne graveyard. 'Cats by 3.

Penton: The 'Riders lost in Hamilton last year, when the Ticats finished 1-17. Enough said. Tiger-Cats by eight.

Friesen: Another loss for the sinking Roughriders, and one week closer to the unemployment line for head coach Danny Barrett. Ticats by eight.

REPORTERS' RECORDS:

PENTON: 34-19 (4-0 last week)

BENDER: 35-18 (3-1 last week)

FRIESEN: 39-14 (2-2 last week)
