Seven NFL coaches fired on Black Monday
By KEN FIDLIN, QMI Agency
Welcome to that quaint, warm and fuzzy football ritual known as Black Monday.
Hey coach, thanks for everything. Leave your playbook, your office keys, your Blackberry and your dignity with the friendly receptionist at the front desk.
Here’s a box for your personal effects and this nice gentleman in the uniform will walk you to your courtesy car. Oh, wait. You don’t have a car. Those efficient folks from the dealership already came by to retrieve it.
Bye, now. Write if you find work.
While a dozen NFL teams turned their attention toward the upcoming Super Bowl tournament, the other 20 outfits went under the microscope to try to figure out what went wrong and who should pay.
Somebody always has to pay and on the last day of 2012, a whole lot of NFL somebodies paid.
The headliner on this day was Andy Reid, whose 14-year tenure as the Eagles head coach in Philadelphia is over, despite his having one more year at $6-million
on his contract.
