A Canadian Olympic kayaker has found himself in the crosshairs of Quebec after he sent out a tweet about Laval on Friday night.

Adam Van Koeverden, who attended McMaster University, fired off a tweet about his dislike for the Marauders opponent in the Vanier Cup, the Laval Rouge et Or.

"I hate Laval," Van Koeverden wrote. "I went there one time and I just really hated it. You suck, Laval. I really don't like you. Nothing personal but f--- you."

He spent the rest of the night defending what he said, saying it was only about a football game and taken out of context, but it was received poorly from Quebeckers.

Van Koeverden reportedly spoke to Canadian Olympic Committee president Marcel Aubut on Saturday and was expected to formally apologize later in the day.

Van Koeverden, who won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics, also deleted the offending tweet.

Laval won the game 37-14 to capture its record seventh Canadian university football championship.

"Congrats Laval! What an incredible football dynasty you've got!!" Van Koeverden wrote after the game. "Rouge et Or the best team clearly won!"
