William Thompson has retired as CEO of Skate Canada.

The figure skating organization announced Friday there would be new leadership structure taking the organization with no immediate plans to bring in a new CEO.

"We have a very experienced, capable senior management team," president Benoit Lavoie said. "We know that they will continue their fine work as a leadership group, while the Skate Canada board focuses on its role of governance of the association."

Thompson became CEO in 2006.
