Reigning world champion Patrick Chan will be in quest of his fifth consecutive national crown at the Canadian figure skating championships, which begin Monday in Moncton, N.B.

In the ice dance category Olympic champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir will return after missing last year's event because of injury. They will be seeking their fourth Canadian title.

Others defending their titles include women's champ Cynthia Phaneuf and pairs skaters Kirsten Moore-Towers and Dylan Moscovitch.
