Moscow to host Skating Worlds
By BOB MACKIN, QMI Agency

The 2011 World Figure Skating Championships are going to Moscow.

The International Skating Union announced Thursday that the Russian capital's Megasport Arena would host the April 24-May 1 event, which was originally scheduled for March 21-27 in Tokyo.

An emergency host was sought after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in northern Japan. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin pledged to pay all costs for relocating the meet.

Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum was proposed by Skate Canada. Other bidders included Colorado Springs, Colo. or Lake Placid, N.Y. Graz, Austria, Zagreb, Croatia, and Turku, Finland.

France has volunteered to let Tokyo host the 2012 championships. London, Ont. is the 2013 host.

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
