LONDON, Ont. -- Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir are sticking to their guns.

The Olympic ice dance champs are still planning to defend their world title in Tokyo next month despite pulling out of the Four Continents figure skating championships last week because Virtue fell victim to a left quadricep injury 30 seconds into their long program.

"Our goal is to compete and win worlds in five weeks," Moir said Tuesday in a call that celebrated the one-year anniversary of their gold medal win in Vancouver.

Virtue, who skated through pain at the Olympics, said her quad woes aren't related to the surgery she had last fall to correct compartment syndrome in her shins and calves. She doesn't anticipate miss any more training ahead of worlds.

"We ended up with a couple extra days in Taipei that were unexpected," she said. "But I'm just going to deal with this and move forward. The quad was something I felt going in (to the competition) and it was a bit overwhelming."

Virtue missed valuable training time in the 2008 season to undergo her original surgery on her shins. This time, though, it's been the opportunity to compete in front of judges that has suffered.

"This season has already blown that season out of the water," Moir said. "We're just following the plan put forth by our coaches and the programs are solid. I think we're in good shape to achieve our goal."

Virtue said she and Moir would re-evaluate their skating future, as always, at the end of the season.
