Rating the ice dancing field

- Gold -- Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon, Montreal. Their best season yet has the three-time Canadian champs in prime contention for a cherished bronze medal in Turin. It's likely their farewell dance at Canadians, and a golden sendoff is assured.

- Silver -- Megan Wing and Aaron Lowe, Vancouver. The longest-serving national teamers are thirsting to end their careers with an Olympic appearance. But like fine wine, they get better with age. You'll see them in Italy.

- Bronze -- Tessa Virtue, London, and Scott Moir, Ilderton. Junior Grand Prix champs are the leaders of ice dance's next generation in Canada. Turin might be arriving a little soon for them, but Vancouver 2010 is clearly in their sights.

- Watch out for: Chantal Lefebvre and Arseniy Markov, LaSalle, Que. Because Markov has yet to obtain Canadian citizenship, they're not yet eligible to represent the country at the Olympics. No reason they can't take a run at podium here.
