- Gold -- Valerie Marcoux, Gatineau, and Craig Buntin, Kelowna, B.C. Two-time defending champs had their wobbly moments a year ago. Not this time. They're much too confident. Call it a hat trick in front of Marcoux' home-town crowd.

- Silver -- Utako Wakamatsu, Japan, and Jean-Sebastien Fecteau, Thetford Mines, Que. Last year's surprise silver medallists won't sneak up on anybody this time. Because Wakamatsu isn't a Canadian citizen, they're ineligible for the Olympics.

- Bronze -- Jessica Dube, St. Cyrille de Wendover, Que., and Bryce Davison, Drummondville, Que. Former junior champs have been touted as the next big thing for a few years now, but injuries have slowed them down. Assuming Dube has recovered from a hand injury, the stage is set for them to make a run at Turin.

- Watch out for: Anabelle Langlois, Hull, and Cody Hay, Grande Prairie, Que. First-year senior Hay's progress in new partnership has been astonishing. Combined with Langlois' experience, they might just pull a major surprise.
