Barring an injury, there will be no second straight appearance in the Junior Grand Prix final for Gloucester Skating Club ice dancers Allie Hann-McCurdy and Michael Coreno.

The duo finished ninth in the Junior GP standings, one spot shy of a berth in the series final Nov. 24-27 in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Hann-McCurdy and Coreno, who were seventh in the 2004 GP final in Helsinki, will only go to Ostrava as an injury replacement.

IN CHARGE AT CHARLES: With Carp's Liz Urbach on board, the Canadian national team's London Training Centre crew won the women's lightweight eights at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston last weekend. It was also a strong event for the Ottawa Rowing Club, which had the winning crew in the men's lightweight fours. ORC crews were also second in the club fours for men and women. Ottawa's Marni Harris finished ninth in senior-masters women's singles (40+).

AROUND THE AMATEUR SCENE: With a personal best time of 36:22, Liz Maguire of the Ottawa Athletic Club Racing Team won the women's 10K event in the Rattle Me Bones race at Ottawa Hospital's General campus last weekend ... In Niagara Falls, OAC's Michelle Schuler was the second female finisher in the Fallsview Casino Niagara marathon, in a gun time of 3:00.03 and chip time of 2:59:59.
