There might as well be smoke coming out of Michael Bisping’s ears. The guy is furious.
With 20 UFC fights under his belt and only a handful of losses on his record, the Englishman can’t understand why he’s being discounted as a contender.
No, he hasn’t won a fight since April 2013.
And, yes, he looked pretty lifeless in his return from an eye injury against Tim Kennedy at The Ultimate Fighter: Nations finale in the spring.
Still, seeing a relative newcomer like Luke Rockhold be called the middleweight No. 1 contender rubs Bisping the wrong way.
“I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that my esteemed colleague on the FOX panel, Daniel Cormier, is saying Luke Rockhold is the No. 1 contender right now,” Bisping said. “He comes in, gets knocked out by Vitor Belfort and then he beats Costas Philippou and Tim Boetsch. No disrespect to those guys, but they’ve never been discussed as title contenders, ever. They’re fringe guys.”
