Back in April, the UFC denied Paige VanZant a spot on its flagship reality TV show, The Ultimate Fighter.

VanZant, who turned 20 on March 26, was turned away because she's not 21, the minimum age to compete on TUF.

Funny thing is, being on the wrong side of age eligibility actually benefited the Sparks, Nev., native as she ended up signing a contract outright.

On Thursday, the UFC announced that VanZant will meet Kailin Curran in the octagon Oct. 4 in Halifax for Fight Night 54.

VanZant, who previously competed for Invicta FC, will be the youngest ever female UFC fighter. She has a 3-1-0 professional record.

Headlining the UFC Fight Night: Halifax card is a welterweight matchup between Rory MacDonald and Tarec Saffiedine.
