It’s way too early to say if Nick Diaz is a reformed man.

The brazen loudmouth who refused to attend UFC press conferences and had a habit for infuriating and captivating MMA fans in equal measure could re-emerge at some point in the next couple months.

Showing up on time for Wednesday’s media conference-call was an encouraging sign, though.

It’s been 15 months since Diaz was last seen fighting in the octagon. After signing a contract with the UFC that will see him take on Anderson Silva in January, Diaz was emphatic that his time-off was only ending because he got a fight that he sees as being worthy of his stature as one of the UFC’s biggest draws.

“I want to take the biggest fight that I can get into,” Diaz said. “This is a big fight and it’s going to sell tickets and that’s how I can do the most for my family and the people I care about and I’ll also be motivated to survive training camp and the fight.”
