The machine that is Renan Barao was leaving a trail of bodies on his quest to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC.

Until he met T.J. Dillashaw.

Behind a pro-Dillashaw crowd chanting “USA, USA” the 28-year-old won the bantamweight belt in a fifth-round TKO of Barao in the main event of UFC 173 at the MGM Grand Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Dillashaw entered the ring in a crest of outward confidence, raising his hands in triumph and sporting a grey t-shirt that said “the best never rest” and that's exactly what happened in the octagon.

“I've dreamed it for so long,” Dillashaw told Joe Rogan about winning the bantamweight belt. “All you have to do is believe you're the best and you'll get there.”
