It seems that UFC lighweight champion Anthony Pettis is the flavour of the month for UFC president Dana White.

The oft-opinionated White wasn't afraid to heap praise on the 17-2 fighter following UFC Fight Night in Cincinnati.

"Pettis is such a bad ass, (an) unbelievably talented fighter," White said. "I love his attitude, I love everything about that kid and it's truly an honour to watch him perform ... He beat Benson Henderson in the first round when Henderson fought the who's who in that division and they all went to decisions."

But Pettis has to wait to show off his skills to his new admirer because he's out following PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) surgery.

Pettis is expected back some time later this year, possibly for a fight against No. 1 lightweight contender Gilbert Melendez at the final UFC event of the year which is tentatively set for Dec. 27 in Las Vegas.
