There may very well be a title shot in Alexis Davis' near-future.
The Port Colborne, Ont. fighter kept her UFC hot streak alive Saturday night at UFC 170 in Las Vegas, controlling her fight with No. 5 ranked Jessica Eye to earn a split decision.
Whether or not Davis gets her shot at the winner of Saturday's headliner between Ronda Rousey and Sara McMann, the No. 3 ranked fighter in the women's division no doubt sent a message to UFC matchmakers with her dominant win.
After a testy opening few minutes that saw Eye use her boxing skills to land a couple painful looking punches, Davis grabbed hold of the fight's momentum with a combination of leg kicks and superior wrestling.
After landing an early takedown, the entire second round was essentially spent with Davis controlling Eye on the ground. With no answer for Davis's suffocating wrestling skills, Eye could try to absurd shots and minimize the damage.
