CALGARY - The UFC hasn’t forgotten about Calgary.

“The UFC will absolutely, definitely come back to Calgary,” said Tom Wright, UFC Canada director of operations.

“(UFC president) Dana (White) said it as well, and the most important thing Dana said is when he comes back, he’s going to bring a great card.”

It just won’t be this year.

The UFC announced its 2014 Canadian schedule this week, which will see five shows in the Great White North — three pay-per-views in Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto, a UFC Fight Night in Halifax and the TUF Nations: Canada vs. Australia finale in Quebec City.

Calgary fight fans have been left wanting since UFC 149, a card that saw nine fighters drop out due to injury, resulting in five main-card bouts being changed in the weeks leading up to the July 21, 2012, event at the Saddledome.

White has called the event “a nightmare” and said he considers it one of the worst in UFC history.
