UFC champ Ronda Rousey, one of the toughest female fighters on the planet, goes weak in the knees when she hears one name: Fedor Emelianenko.
She credits Emelianenko for inspiring her to join the UFC in the first place.
“Do I want to have 57 of his babies? It’s true,” Rousey told media members in Los Angeles this week. “I think he’s married, though, so I’m not allowed.”
It’s a side of Rousey fans don’t normally see. After she pounded Miesha Tate at UFC 168 last month, Rousey, 26, wouldn’t even shake her competitors hand.
But one mention of her now-retired 37-year-old Russian crush apparently forces her to drop her guard.
“He was my first exposure to MMA,” Rousey said. “A couple of years ago a friend of mine showed me a Fedor Emelianenko highlight. It just blew my mind. I thought it was the most amazing thing I’ve seen in the whole world.
“He has always been my image of what MMA is supposed to be. I will always be not-so-secretly in love with Fedor Emelianenko.
The undefeated (8-0) Rousey said he’s the only big MMA star she hasn’t met with.
“If I did I’d probably turn 19 shades of red,” she said.
