Joseph Benavidez is thankful he didn't receive an immediate rematch with Demetrious (Mighty Mouse) Johnson.

Benavidez and Johnson made history last year, competing in the inaugural flyweight championship bout at UFC 152 in Toronto. That night, Johnson turned Benavidez's own aggression against him, utilizing elusive footwork and sharp counters to wear the Team Alpha Male fighter out en route to a split-decision victory (tinyurl.com/jo-dem1).

In some cases, a competitive title fight can result in immediate an rematch, but both Johnson and Benavidez went their separate ways. Johnson netted successful title defences against John Dodson and John Moraga, while Benavidez picked up victories over Ian McCall, Darren Uyenoyama and Jussier da Silva.
