Junior (Cigano) dos Santos has no issues with Cain Velasquez holding a UFC championship, just as long as its not the heavyweight title.
Dos Santos will challenge Velasquez for the belt in the main event of UFC 166 in Houston Saturday. The co-main will see Daniel Cormier take on Roy Nelson.
Despite everything that's at stake, dos Santos said he simply aims to prove he's the superior fighter.
"I'd like to see him as a champion, but just not in my division," dos Santos told QMI Agency during a phone interview. "I want to be the champion. I go very hard in the gym because I want to be better than him.
"It's an honour to be competing at such a high level with this guy."
This weekend's bout marks the fighters' rubber match.
Dos Santos claimed the first fight, delivering a 64-second knockout to win the championship in late 2011. Velasquez then returned the favour one year later, battering dos Santos en route to a dominant unanimous-decision victory.
