As far as Jon (Bones) Jones is concerned, Alexander (The Mauler) Gustafsson isn’t cut out to be champion.

“I heard Alexander say, ‘This is the most motivated I’ve ever been,’ ” Jones told reporters during a media scrum Thursday. “I’m just blessed I don’t have motivational issues at all. His UFC debut should have been the most motivated he’s ever been.

“If Alexander was meant to do something amazing, he would have done it already. He’s been fighting a lot longer than I’ve been fighting and I’ve surpassed him in a big way. He lost to Phil Davis and I haven’t lost to anybody (with the exception of a DQ defeat to Matt Hamill in 2009). If he wanted it more than me, it would have already shown in his history.”

Jones looks to earn a record sixth straight light-heavyweight title defence when he battles Gustafsson in the main event of UFC 165 at the Air Canada Centre on Saturday.
