Chael Sonnen has no problem admitting he's already looking past Mauricio (Shogun) Rua.

Sonnen is set to battle the former light-heavyweight champion in the headliner of UFC Fight Night 26 in Boston Saturday. The co-main event will see Alistair Overeem face Travis Browne.

Though the brash competitor is often known for his sharp trash talk -- especially towards Brazilian fighters -- he means no disrespect towards Rua.

According to Sonnen, there's a significant difference between looking past someone and underestimating them. He said he's always thinking about his next steps, despite what's currently on his plate.

“I don't necessarily have a plan, but I do like to look ahead,” Sonnen said on a recent media call. “I don't like to focus on one guy. I like the distraction of looking ahead. There are some guys that I want to fight. They're not always title fights. There are plenty of other big matches out there, matches that I just want to do. If those bring you to the title, if they bring you closer, those are just byproducts. But it's day-by-day, just getting through practice.
