At this point, a potential showdown between Anderson (The Spider) Silva and Georges (Rush) St. Pierre has become the MMA version of Jason Voorhees.

Much like the Friday the 13th franchise icon, no matter how many times the potential super-fight gets chopped down, it just won’t stay dead.

However, just because the bout has fallen apart multiple times in the past doesn’t mean UFC president Dana White isn’t hopeful it will become a reality one day.

White recently threw more fuel on the fire by stating a super-fight — pitting the middleweight champ against either St. Pierre or 205-pound titleholder Jon (Bones) Jones — could be in the cards should Silva defeat challenger Chris Weidman at UFC 162 in Las Vegas Saturday.

But with St. Pierre and Jones both locked in for title defences later this year, that’s a lot of different pieces that all need to fall into place. It’s also difficult to take this talk at face value since we’ve heard it so many times before.
