Sam Stout is packing a punch both inside and outside of the octagon.

A 10-year veteran of the mixed martial arts game, Stout is part of an anti-bullying campaign and feels strongly about the cause.

“We have a big kids program at my home gym, Adrenaline Training Centre, in London (Ontario) and as MMA fighters, being in the spotlight for what can be taken as a pretty violent sport, we’re in a pretty good position to stress the fact it’s a sport to us,” said Stout, who took part in Wednesday’s open workout for UFC 161 at Portage Place. “Two willing participants that are trained to do this and both consenting on. Violence, in any other form, just isn’t acceptable and kids need to know that at a young age. We’re in a good place to kind of get that message across.”

While Stout, 29, wasn’t bullied as a youngster, he stresses that everyone can make a difference when it comes to eliminating the problem.
