WINNIPEG - Rosi Sexton has a first-class mathematics degree from Cambridge University and a PhD in theoretical computer science from Manchester University.

In other words, she ain’t no dummy.

On Saturday, June 15, the 35-year-old British mother will step into the Octagon and attempt to lay a beating on Canadian Alexis Davis on the UFC 161 card at Winnipeg’s MTS Centre.

What’s going on here?

“I ask myself that a lot,” Sexton said with a laugh on Thursday from Manchester, England. “Especially near the end of a training camp.”

All kidding aside, Sexton said it’s rather simple. She loves mixed martial arts, and her degrees will be there when she’s done punching, kicking and choking out opponents.

She has now reached the pinnacle of her sport and will be making her UFC debut on the main card in Manitoba, of all places.
