Jon (Bones) Jones made quick work of Chael Sonnen in the main event of UFC 159 in Newark, N.J. Saturday, but suffered a gruesome toe injury in the process.

Jones immediately took Sonnen to the mat and went to work with his trademark elbows. After wounding he former NCAA Division I wrestler, Jones sealed the deal with a flurry of strikes.

While discussing the victory with interviewer Joe Rogan, Jones realized he broke his big toe in nasty fashion.

“I don't know (how it happened), but when my adrenaline comes down I am going to be in pain tonight,” Jones said, before sitting on a stool to continue the interview.

“I wasn't planning on breaking my big toe. I was supposed to go to Jamaica after this. Obviously that's not going happen.”

Jones said Sonnen's trash talk fuelled him in the bout.

“Chael Sonnen is an awesome opponent,” Jones said. “There was a lot of drama, but it motivated me a lot.

“I Chael Sonnened, Chael Sonnen.”
