UFC bad-boy Nick Diaz just can’t stay out of trouble, even if it isn't really, well, trouble.
Diaz, who lost to Georges St. Pierre in the main event of UFC 158 Saturday in Montreal, posted a photo online Monday that suggested he’d been arrested by police in his native California. He even captioned the photo, which he posted to Twitter and Instagram, with “F--- they got us,” insinuating he’d be off to jail for some transgression.
Well, turns out Diaz wasn’t actually arrested, although two others in the car he was a passenger in were busted, according to MMAWeekly.com.
“(Diaz) was cooperative and released without incident,” Citrus Heights (Calif.) Police Department Sergeant David Moranz told MMAWeekly.com.
Diaz was a passenger in a car that was pulled over Sunday night for going the wrong way on a one-way street in Sacramento. Moranz told MMAWeekly.com that the driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant while another passenger was arrested for allegedly having hashish.
In the post-fight press conference in Montreal, Diaz claimed that he’d never paid taxes and would probably be arrested for it. But his manager and trainer, Cesar Gracie, told MMA Weekly that’s not actually the case.
“Nick is a little crazy, but he has paid taxes,” Gracie said, adding that Diaz had paid more than $100,000 in income tax the last two years. “He should have never made that statement.”
