MacDonald can't wait to fight Condit at UFC 158
By NEIL SPRINGER, QMI Agency
Rory (Ares) MacDonald’s first career loss gave him a new perspective on mixed martial arts. In only his second UFC appearance, the B.C. native lost a heartbreaker to Carlos (Natural Born Killer) Condit at UFC 115 in 2010. Though he out-fought Condit throughout the first two rounds, MacDonald found himself on the receiving end of vicious ground-and-pound in the third. With only seven seconds left on the clock, referee Kevin Dornan stopped the fight, awarding a TKO victory to Condit. For MacDonald, the defeat reminded him what’s truly at stake every time he enters the octagon. “You definitely have a different outlook after losing,” MacDonald said over the phone. “(Fighting) is dangerous. It’s easy to put a hurting on someone. Sometimes you forget, after you’ve been successful, what you’re actually risking. It opens your eyes up a little bit.”
