Calgary's Ring gets UFC 158 bout
By SCOTT MITCHELL, QMI Agency

Nick Ring will fight Chris Camozzi at UFC 158 in Montreal. Sun file.

CALGARY - Nick Ring is trying to bounce back from a knockout of a different kind.

The last time the Calgary fighter made the trek to Montreal, he failed his pre-fight medical after dealing with an illness in the days leading up to his scheduled bout with Costa Philippou at UFC 154.

“When you cut 20 pounds of water, it also makes your immune system go right down with it,” Ring said. “I got really sick after that. It was basically a viral-respiratory, pneumonia type of thing.

“Unfortunately, I was KO’d.”

But Ring (13-1) has been given another chance, as it was announced Saturday he’ll square off in a middleweight bout with Chris Camozzi

(18-5) on the UFC 158 card slated for March 16 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

The card is headlined by a welterweight title fight between Montreal’s favourite son Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz.
