Redemption time for Dos Santos against Velasquez at UFC 155
By NEIL SPRINGER, QMI Agency
Junior (Cigano) dos Santos pays no attention to critics who claim he didn’t beat the best Cain Velasquez to capture the UFC heavyweight championship. The two met at UFC on FOX 1 over a year ago in a bout that saw the Brazilian knock Velasquez out in only 64 seconds. However, it was later revealed the NCAA Division I wrestler tore his ACL two weeks before stepping inside the octagon. As far as dos Santos is concerned, if a competitor is healthy enough to fight, he’s healthy enough to lose. Either way, he still finished off Velasquez to achieve his dream of being a world champion. But if people are determined to focus on the former titleholder’s knee, they should also remember dos Santos entered the fight with a torn meniscus.
