Mauricio (Shogun) Rua doesn't regret turning down a shot at UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Jones was set to defend his title against Dan Henderson in the main event of UFC 151 in Las Vegas Sept. 1, but a partially-torn MCL forced the MMA legend from the card. With less than two weeks left before the event, the UFC frantically attempted to find a new opponent for Jones.

Among the fighters offered the opportunity was Rua, who lost the 205-pound title to Jones in early 2011. However, the 2005 PRIDE grand prix winner passed on the fight before it was accepted by Chael Sonnen. Jones then refused to fight Sonnen and UFC 151 was scrapped entirely.

Rua said he was forced give up the title shot due to being banged up from his August TKO victory over Brandon Vera and not having enough time to train for Jones.
