Jose Aldo, the UFC's featherweight champion, was lucky to escape any serious injuries after being involved in an accident over the weekend in his native Brazil.

Aldo was left with a few scrapes and minor bruises after the motorcycle he was riding in Rio de Janeiro was hit by a car, according to MMAJunkie.com via Brazil's UOL Esporte.

"Yes, I had a motorcycle accident, but it was no big deal," Aldo told UOL Esporte in Portugese. "No, there's no problem (about fighting Oct. 13). I'm going to the gym right now."

Aldo is scheduled to defend his title against former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar at UFC 153 in Rio next month.

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?

  Might be a good idea.
