UFC announces Aldo vs. Koch

There is a spot waiting on the Calgary fight card for Jason MacDonald.

The 36-year-old Red Deer native — a 13-fight UFC vet

— will have to come out of his May 15 scrap with Tom Lawlor unscathed before he can be pencilled in.

UFC director of Canadian operations Tom Wright said he hopes to call president Dana White and matchmaker Joe Silva to get MacDonald on the Calgary card.

“Jason has always been a great ambassador for the sport and for the UFC,” Wright said. “Jason has said he’d like nothing more than to finish his career here in Calgary, and I will do what I can to make that happen.”

MacDonald will fight on the undercard of the UFC on FUEL TV 3 night that will be headlined by ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung taking on Dustin Poirier.

Wright said there are

10 fights already set for Calgary, but he will add an additional scrap if MacDonald is able to fight July 21 at the Saddledome.
