Dominick Cruz has been forced to pull out of his bantamweight title fight with Urijah Faber at UFC 148.
UFC president Dana White confirmed Monday that Cruz injured a knee while training during The Ultimate Fighter Live. The bantamweight champ and Faber are coaches on the show this season and were scheduled to meet on July 7 in Las Vegas.
"It's true Cruz blew his ACL. Stay tuned for more info," White said on his Twitter account.
A "bummed" Cruz also tweeted about the injury Monday.
"WILL recover n I WILL b back 2put on a show," he said.
Cruz and Faber, who have split two previous meetings, were the co-main event on the UFC 148 card. The headline bout is a middleweight title fight between champ Anderson Silva and No. 1 contender Chael Sonnen.
In other UFC news, the company confirmed that featherweight champion Jose Aldo will defend his title against Erik Koch at the July 21 event in Calgary. The Aldo-Koch fight will be the main event on a card that features five Canadians.
