UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre isn't sure if he'll be healthy in time to fight in Montreal later this year.
St. Pierre, who is still rehabbing a knee that was surgically repaired in December, expects to resume training in July but after that his timeline to return to the Octagon remains up in the air. But St. Pierre says he won't push it just to fight on his home turf.
"I must be patient," St. Pierre said Thursday. "It'll take me a few months to regain my form, my reflexes. But I'm crossing my fingers, it would be great to make my return in Montreal. The two fights I had at the Bell Centre are the best times of my career."
Speculation has been rampant that he will make his comeback against interim welterweight champ Carlos Condit at UFC 154 Nov. 17 in Montreal. Fans want St. Pierre to fight Nick Diaz but he says he's fine with facing Condit.
"I'm glad I'm going to fight Carlos," said St-Pierre. "It's an honour for me. I'm happy to fight him. He's very clever. That's why he's so good."
