TORONTO - It was a rough night for Canadian fighters, who only won two of seven scheduled fights.
Only Toronto’s Mark Bocek and Montreal’s Yves Jabouin were successful in getting their hands raised at UFC 140 Saturday.
Bocek took a one-sided decision over Nik Lentz, while Jabouin edged Walel Watson in an entertaining stand-up fight.
On the losing side, Thamesford, Ont. featherweight Mark Hominick suffered a lightning-quick knockout loss by Chan Sung (Korean Zombie) Jung.
Toronto’s Claude Patrick lost a razor-thin split decision to MMA veteran Brian Ebersole that elicited a chorus of boos from the partisan crowd at the Air Canada Centre.
Dennis Hallman dominated Laval, Que. lightweight John Makdessi before putting him away with a rear-naked choke. Winnipeg’s Krzysztof Soszynski was on the receiving end of a brutal knockout courtesy of Croatian striker Igor Pokrajac.
Saskatoon’s Mitch Clarke lost via TKO to John Cholish in the evening’s opening bout.
