Former light-heavyweight champions Lyoto (The Dragon) Machida and Quinton (Rampage) Jackson meet in the headlining bout of UFC 123.

Also, Matt Hughes and (The Prodigy) B.J. Penn face off in the rubber match of their rivalry.

Joe (J-Lau) Lauzon vs. George Sotiropoulos

Round one

Lauzon connects with two straight-rights. Sotiropoulos tries to clinch, but Lauzon pushes him away. Sotiropoulos grabs a single-leg, but Lazuon defends it. Lauzon connects with a right-hook. Sotiropoulos misses with a big overhand right.

Sotiropoulos tries for another single, but eats some nasty elbows to the side of the head. Sotiropoulos clinches him against the cage, but Lauzon shoves him off. Lauzon bullrushes him to the mat, but Sotiropoulos rolls and is on top. Now Lauzon scrambles and is back on top in Sotiropoulos' half-guard.

Sotiropoulos springs up and takes him down. Lauzon has him in his guard. Lauzon scrambles, but Sotiropoulos takes side-control. He switches to north-south. He takes full-mount, but Lauzon dumps him off and unloads with elbows from half-guard.

Round two

Lauzon reverse a single-leg and lands on top. Sotiropoulos pops back up and presses him against the cage. Sotiropoulos keeps working for the takedown. He gives up and they restart. Sotiropoulos with a nice body shot.

Sotiropoulos grabs the Thai clinch and lands some stiff knees. Sotiropoulos throws him down. Lauzon tries for an armbar, but Sotiropoulos pops out and takes side- control. Lauzon pops out of a straight-armbar attempt. He takes north-south and secures the kimura for the submission victory!

Winner: George Sotiropoulos by submission (kimura)

Tim (The Barbarian) Boetsch vs. Phil (Mr. Wonderful) Davis

Round one

Both guys are tentative to start. Boetsch lands a leg kick. They trade outside leg kicks. Davis tries a head kick, but Boetsch blocks it. Stiff leg kick from Davis. Boetsch catches a leg kick and lands an overhand right on the break. Boetsch catches another kick, but eats a couple punches for his trouble.

Boetsch is bleeding on his arm. Davis shoots and gets the takedown. Davis is in half-guard. He tries for an arm triangle, but Boetsch blocks it. Davis unloads with punches to the body. Davis keeps chipping away with short elbows. Boetsch pulls him back to guard, but Davis immediately passes back to half.

Boetsch explodes back to his feet as the round ends.

Round two

Boetsch blocks a head kick. Davis clinches him against the cage and knees the legs. Davis takes his back, but Boetsch switches out. Davis presses him against the fence again. Davis drops down, but Boetsch grabs a guillotine choke.

Davis pops his head out. He's in half-guard and works for a straight-armbar. Davis switches to a kimura. Davis lets go of the submission, but keeps the arm pinned behind his back. Davis keeps muscling him, clasps his hands together and Boetsch taps from the kimura!

Winner: Phil Davis by second-round submission (kimura)

Maiquel (Big Rig) Falcao vs. Gerald (Hurricane) Harris

Round one

Harris misses a lunging jab from the outside. he teases the shot as Falcao walks him down. Harris lands a jab this time. He follows with another. Harris tries with a wild hook, but isn't even close. The crowd boos the lack of action as Falcao doesn't want to get taken down.

Falcao blocks a jab. Falcao tries a body kick, but it hits arm. Harris tries to clinch, but eats a flurry of punches. Harris goes down after a knee to the body and Falcao starts pounding away on the ground. Falcao is in half-guard and keeps landing punches. Harris lifts him up and slams him. Falcao grabs a a rear-naked choke, but the round ends. Harris was saved by the bell on that one.

Round two

Falcao lands a massive straight-eight. He drops Harris with a body kick and pounces. Falcao takes the back again and sinks his hooks in. Falcao can't get the rear- naked choke. Harris explodes out and presses him against the cage.

Falcao grabs double-underhooks and presses him against the cage. They separate and Harris tries a lazy jab. Harris shoots, but Falcao sprawls. Harris presses him against the cage. He lifts Falcao up and slams him.

Falcao knocks him down with a head kick. Harris shoots on the way down, but Falcao sprawls again. Falcao keeps chipping away with punches. Harris gets to his feet as the round ends.

Round three

Harris misses a jab. Falcao lands a slapping leg kick. Not much is happening now and the crowd starts booing.

Harris needs something big and he's not going for it. He's just repeating his strategy from the first round -- teasing takedowns and trying to land jabs.

Harris shoots, but Falcao sprawls and separates. Falcao misses a head kick. Harris lands a body kick. They have a brief exchange as the round ends.

Winner: Maiquel Falcao by unanimous decision (29-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Matt Hughes vs. (The Prodigy) B.J. Penn

Round one

Penn catches him with a couple quick jabs. Penn catches him with a huge straight-right! Hughes drops and Penn unloads with punches! Hughes is out.

Winner: B.J. Penn by knockout

Quinton (Rampage) Jackson vs. Lyoto (The Dragon) Machida

Round one

Jackson comes out to the PRIDE Fighting Championships theme song. Ahhhhh, memories.

Jackson immediately takes the centre of the octagon. Machida moves on the outside. Machida with a stiff leg kick. He follows with another. And a third for good measure. Machida tries a leg kick, but Jackson explodes with punches.

Jackson starts swinging wildly and clinches him against the cage. Jackson works some punches to the body and delivers foot stomps. Jackson with a big uppercut on the break and misses an overhand right. Jackson counters a knee to the body with an overhand right.

The clinch again. Machida reverses it and knees the legs. Jackson punches his body and they break. Rampage charges with punches, but Machida avoids them. Jackson lands a left hook as the round ends.

Round two

Jackson charges and presses him against the fence. Machida reverses it and the ref breaks it. Jackson just misses a left-hook. He clinches Machida again. Machida reverses it, but Jackson takes him to the mat.

Machida stands right back up and presses Jackson on the fence. They break and Jackson misses a straight right. Machida now clinches and they're back against the wall. Jackson lands a knee to the body. Jackson blocks a head kick. Machida lands a jumping knee, but Jackson responds with an uppercut.

Machida with a leg kick. Machida clinches again. Machida tries to trip him, but Jackson avoids it. Jackson shoves him off. Jackson slips as the round ends.

Round three

Jackson tries a leg kick. Jackson backs him up with punches, but none really land. Solid leg kick from Jackson. Jackson gets tagged coming in and he's hurt! Machida explodes with punches, but Jackson responds with big shots. Machida takes him to the mat and in half-guard.

Machida is trying to advance position, but Jackson is holding on. Machida works for a kimura. Machida passes to side-control and takes full-mount. Machida works in some elbows and goes for an armbar. Jackson lifts him up and Machida lands on his feet. Machida clinches and presses him against the cage. Lyoto drags him to the mat and tries for rubber guard as the round ends.

Winner: Quinton Jackson by split-decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
