The stakes for Josh (Kos) Koscheck and Paul (Semtex) Daley just got a lot higher.

The two are scheduled to face each other in the co-main event slot of this Saturday’s UFC 113 card in Montreal, and now there are championship implications.

“The winner of this fight will face Georges St. Pierre for the title,” UFC president Dana White said at the pre-fight press conference Thursday.

While both men are only one fight away from challenging for the welterweight championship, neither is letting that get in the way of their bout this weekend.

“I’m the type of fighter that just likes to focus on the job at hand and for me that’s Josh Koscheck on Saturday,” Daley said. “I don’t dislike Josh Koscheck... other people think he’s a d---. But I have no opinion of him really.”

Koscheck agreed, saying he wouldn’t let the promise of a title shot, or Daley’s trash-talk, break his focus.

“I’ve been in this situation before …lot of guys talk a lot of trash; I’ve talked a lot of trash,” Koscheck said. “Saturday night we’ve got to go in there and fight. At the end of the day, that’s what we do.

“I’m well prepared. I put in 12 weeks of a very hard camp — probably my hardest as a fighter. So, I’m well prepared and I don’t really care too much about the title shot right now.”

It has been speculated for some time that the winner of Koscheck and Daley would coach opposite St. Pierre on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter. However, White refused to comment, saying the coaches will be announced tomorrow.
