Though mixed martial arts is a more evolved form of combat sport than boxing, it is still light-years behind the sweet science when it comes to trash-talk.

Sure, there have been some memorable quotes in the past, such as Ken Shamrock promising to beat Tito Ortiz into a "living death," or Frank Mir's ridiculous claim that he wants Brock Lesnar to die in the octagon. While these quips won't soon be forgotten, a high-profile MMA fighter has yet to pull a Mike Tyson and threaten to eat his opponent's children.

Though UFC welterweight Paul (Semtex) Daley is known for his brash attitude, he's letting more than his mouth do the talking in the lead up to his UFC 113 fight with Josh (Kos) Koscheck in Montreal on May 8. The dangerous British striker has come up with a clever way of getting MMA fans to deliver the assault for him.

In February, Daley (23-8-2) posted a thread on the MMA Underground forum asking users to come up with a new hairstyle for Koscheck (14-4).

"For my Supporters, we are also running a competition to help Josh," Daley said in his post. "We can all see he is in desperate need of some advice about what to do with his Blonde 'Fro.....So PHOTOSHOP PEOPLE, Wining [sic] hair style will be handed to Josh at the pre fight press conference....."

The thread immediately received a torrent of entries -- including digitally-altered pictures of Koscheck as Don King, Amy Winehouse, Bob Ross and Phil Spector. Months later, it has yet to run out of steam.

Daley admitted to being blown away by the amount of users who submitted photos.

"No, I haven't picked a winner of the competition yet," Daley said on a UFC conference call. "Yeah, I was very pleased with the amount of people that entered the competition. I didn't really expect such a response. For whatever reason, people like to latch onto the fact that Josh looks a bit f---ed up and he looks a bit like a Fraggle."

Though Daley no doubt considers his prank a knockout before the fight even starts, Koscheck isn't phased, stating he pays little attention to online forums.

"I don't really get on the Internet; I don't know too much about (the contest)," Koscheck said. "I don't get on any MMA forums. I don't read the paper. I don't do any of that stuff. So to be honest with you, I don't know too much about it.

"I'm just focused on May 8 and putting a beatdown on Paul Daley. That's my focus."

Despite his opponent's quick dismissal, Daley says he still intends to present Koscheck with the winning entry at the pre-fight press conference.

Both men have let the insults fly on their UFC blogs, with Koscheck calling Daley one-dimensional and Daley claiming his opponent has a glass jaw. Daley reiterated that point on the call, citing Koscheck's TKO loss to Paulo Thiago.

Daley said if Koscheck wants to engage in a striking match, it will be a quick night for the four-time NCAA Division I All-American wrestler.

"Just look at my track record," Daley began. "If Koscheck wants to stand, I'm happy to do that all day. I think it will be a very short and sweet fight if that is the case. A lot of people underestimate me when it comes to my striking. They think that it's brute power. Some may think it's a little wild, but they don't understand the thought that goes into the dismantling of opponents.

"Like I said, you've got my track record. You've got Duane Ludwig, K-1 Max (tournament winner); took him out. Mark Weir, a phenomenal striker; took him out. John Alessio had never been knocked out before (he fought me). Martin Kampmann, Danish kickboxing champion -- and the list goes on."

In previous fights, Koscheck has made the mistake of spending too much time trading with strikers before utilizing his wrestling skills. Though he refused to comment on the details of his strategy this time, he said he has a very specific line of attack for dealing with Daley's knockout power.

"I just want to say that I definitely have a great game plan for this fight," Koscheck said. "I don't see this fight going past the second round. The fight starts standing and we'll go from there. That's all I can say."
