Bones' can't catch a break

Jon "Bones" Jones -- who suffered a disqualification loss to Matt Hamill for an illegal elbow strike -- will not have his appeal heard by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. It is Jones' first pro loss.

Buffer backers

Silver Star has signed the voice of the Octagon, Bruce Buffer, as its official ambassador. The clothing company's endorsers also include name fighters such as Rashad Evans, Forrest Griffin, Lyoto Machida.

Werdum to draw Fedor

Former Pride and UFC star Fabricio Werdum is expected to take on Fedor Emelianenko at CBS's April event. Recently signed Dan Henderson is also expected to be on the card in a fight against Jake Shields.

Beaten Le makes bank

Scott Smith turned heads with his come-from-behind win over Cung Le at last week's Strikeforce event, but it was Le who won at the bank. Smith, who won by third-round TKO, earned $55,000 (all terms US) while Le was paid $150,000. Gilbert Melendez earned $55,000 (no win bonus) for his win over Josh Thomson (who got $30,000). Ronaldo "Jacare" Souz got $65,000 (including a $10,000 win bonus) for his win over Matt Linland ($50,000).
