B.J. Penn defends his lightweight championship against Diego Sanchez at UFC 107.

Also, Frank Mir returns to the octagon to face Cheick Kongo.

Paul (The Headhunter) Buentello vs. Stefan (Skyscraper) Struve

Round one

Struve tries a head kick, but Buentello blocks. Buentello catches a body kick and presses him against the fence. Struve tries to jump into a guillotine choke, but gives up on it. Struve cracks Buentello with an uppercut. He takes Buentello down and grabs his back with a body triangle.

Struve is trying to flatten Buentello, but is having trouble. He unloads with punches, but Buentello blocks. Struve rolls him over and is working for a rear-naked choke. Buentello finally breaks the grip and spins out. Buentello is now in Struve's guard. Struve delivers some elbows to the top of Buentello's head as the round ends.

Round two

Buentello lands a nice overhand right. Struve slips, but Buentello lets him back up. Struve presses him against the fence and knees Buentello's legs. Buentello reverses and works some body punches in. Struve jumps into a leglock attempt, but Buentello slips out.

Buentello counters a flying knee attempt with a big right and Struve's wobbly. Struve is in survival mode and presses him against the cage. They start swinging for the fence with huge punches. Both guys are tired and landing. They smile and touch gloves after the exchange. Buentello nails him with a stiff left-right combo. The round ends.

Round three

Struve lands a nice straight-right to start. He follows up with a leg kick. Buentello delivers a stiff straight-right of his own. He tries a body punch, but Struve lands another leg kick. Struve tags him with a left-right and presses him against the fence.

They clinch and Struve comes over the top with a big elbow. Struve keeps finding a home for his leg kicks -- Buentello doesn't seem interested in checking them. Buentello keeps trying to land big punches to the head, but Struve is keeping his distance and is picking him apart with leg kicks.

Buentello charges and shoves Struve over. Buentello lets him back up and tags him with big punches as the round ends.

winner: Stefan Struve by majority decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-28).

Kenny (KenFlo) Florian vs. Clay (The Carpenter) Guida

Round one

Florian takes octagon control. Florian lands a straight-left. Florian with a head kick, but Guida takes him down. Guida can't do much on the ground and Florian gets back up.

Florian is bleeding a bit now. Guida pushes forward, but Florian avoids it. Florian grabs a leg and takes him down, but Guida is back up right away. Guida shoots for a single-leg takedown, but Florian sprawls.

Guida is bleeding quite a bit after a big elbow. Florian unloads with some more nasty elbows against the fence and they stop the fight to check the cut. Guida is gushing blood, but they let the fight continue.

Round two

Florian lands some jabs as the round starts. Guida shoots for a takedown, but Florian sprawls again. Florian is looking loose now. He's landing his jab and is avoiding Guida's shots.

Florian drops him with a huge right and takes his back! Florian sinks in a rear-naked choke and it's over!

Winner: Kenny Florian by second-round submission (rear-naked choke)

Jon Fitch vs. Mike Pierce

Round one

Fitch tires a head kick, but misses. Fitch catches Pierce's leg and grabs his back. He pulls Pierce down and sinks in his hooks. Pierce stands up with Fitch on his back, Fitch is grinding him to the mat and softening him up with punches.

Fitch gives up his hooks. Pierce picks him up and slams him. Fitch uses the cage to stand up and they separate. Fitch with a slapping leg kick. He follows it up with a left-hook. Fitch catches Pierce with an uppercut.

Round two

Fitch with a quick leg kick to start off. Pierce tries to shoot and presses Fitch on the fence. They separate and Fitch tags him with a stiff jab. A nice knee from Fitch; he follows with another leg kick. Fitch catches a leg kick and takes him down.

Pierce tries to stand up, but Fitch grabs his back. Pierce manages to switch out and press him on the cage. Nice jab from Pierce. He tags Fitch with a left-right combo. Nice overhand right from Pierce.

Fitch catches him with a knee, but eats a body punch soon after. Fitch dumps him again and grabs the back. Pierce is on his feet, but Fitch is working to put him down.

They switch out and Fitch dumps him again.

Round three

Fitch with a knee to the body and a leg kick. He tags Pierce with a straight-right. Pierce presses him on the fence, but eats an elbow from Fitch. Pierce goes for another takedown, but Fitch is defending.

Fitch tries a head kick. Pierce charges forward with punches, but Fitch avoids any damage. Fitch secures a takedown. Pierce stands up and lets loose a wild uppercut that misses. Fitch catches him with a huge knee, but Pierce hurts him with a big right hand. Pierce swarms and Fitch is bleeding, but the round ends.

Winner: Jon Fitch by unanimous decision (All judges scored it 29-28)

Frank Mir vs. Cheick Kongo

Round one

Kongo tries a flurry of punches, but Mir avoids it. Mir drops Kongo with a huge overhand left and sinks in a guillotine choke. Kongo is out cold!

Round one

Intense staredown from both men.

Penn immediately cracks Sanchez with a huge overhand right. Penn swarms him and unloads. Sanchez manages to survive, but he has to be wobbly. He tags him with another, but Sanchez presses him on the fence.

Sanchez tries a high kick, but it's blocked. Sanchez tries to charge with punches, but Penn tags him again. Sanchez misses a takedown attempt. Sanchez tags him with a straight-left. Penn nails him with another stiff right and the round ends.

Round two

Sanchez shoots for a takedown, but can't get it. Penn tags him with another right. Sanchez tries a takedown, but Penn steps out. Sanchez is swinging widly, but he can't seem to touch Penn. Penn catches him with a left-right combo, but Sanchez shoots to avoid any damage.

Penn with a straight-right, jab and right-hook. Nice combination. Sanchez tries for another takedown, but he just can't take Penn down.

Round three

Sanchez with a nice body kick. Penn tags him with a straight-right. Sanchez shoots again, but still can't get the fight to the ground. Penn lands some uppercuts as Sanchez digs for a leg. Sanchez eventually gives up on that.

Sanchez is once again trying to take Penn down. This is starting to look like Penn vs. Florian. Penn grabs a Thai clinch and lands a beautiful elbow on the break.

Sanchez eats a knee to the body and presses him against the cage. Penn switches out and nails him with a right-hook. Sanchez needs to do something drastic here.

Round four

Sanches tries a head kick, but misses. Sanchez tries to shoot, but eats a punch for his trouble. Penn tags him with another straight-right. Sanchez presses him on the fence. Penn catches him with a hook as they break.

Sanchez tries to shoot again, but Penn elbows him in the head. Sanchez tries a wild hook and misses another takedown. Sanchez tries a head kick, but it catches Penn's arm.

Penn lands a hard knee as the round ends.

Round five

The story of this fight is all over Sanchez's face -- he's bruised and bloody.

Sanchez tries another takedown, but Penn scoops his leg out. Sanchez goes for it again, but Penn sprawls and controls his head. They stand up and Penn catches him with a head kick and Sanchez is bleeding! Penn unloads with punches, but Sanchez goes for another takedown. Penn sprawls and unloads with punches. Sanchez is bleeding profusely and the ref stops the fight to check the cut.

That cut is nasty and the doctor calls it.

Winner: B.J. Penn by fifth round TKO (doctor's stoppage)
